Lockheed Martin Space in Englewood, CO has an immediate opening for a Software Engineer to help design and field a number of future hypersonic and glide body technology insertions that the nation urgently needs. In this role, you will use your expertise to ensure that safety is crafted into hardware and software products and that controls are incorporated and remain effective while assuring compliance to safety requirements. This role will require you to review, track, and assess hardware and software design, engineering changes for hazard impacts, and develop, maintain, and update safety hazard analyses. Your responsibilities will include the following tasks:
- Integrate System Safety Engineering into the Software Development processes - Develop and update Preliminary Hazard List (PHL), Preliminary Hazard Analysis (PHA), Functional Hazard Analyses (FHAs), System Hazard Analyses (SHA), and Safety Assessment Reports (SAR) - Prepare presentations and participate in Design Reviews, Test Readiness Reviews, Technical Interchange Meetings, and various working groups and safety review meetings - Support the development and updating of System Safety documents to support Customer and Range Safety contractual requirements - Review and provide recommendations to test procedures for alignment to System Safety requirements - Collaborate with cross-program LMS safety counterparts and support weapon systems working groups Our ideal candidate is someone with a strong System Safety background and familiarity or experience with missile systems, U.S. Army or Navy customer, safety requirements, ordnance and software Basic
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree from an accredited college/university in Software Engineering or related discipline with 2 years of professional experience; or no experiencerequired with a related Mastersdegree. Considered experienced, but still a learner. - Familiar with software engineering languages and associated processes across the software lifecycle. - US Citizenship required to start with the ability to acquire a Secret security clearance - Excellent written and verbal communication skills Desired Skills:
- Experience in System Safety Engineering with strong technical skills in performing hazard analyses, identifying safety requirements, developing fault trees, and recommending risk mitigation - Prior experienceworking with U.S. Army or US Navy customers - Familiarity or experience with missile systems, ordnance, and software engineering - Understanding of incident investigations and root cause and corrective actions - Current Secret Security Clearance
Salary Range:
$80K -- $100K
Minimum Qualification
Systems Architecture & Engineering, Software DevelopmentEstimated Salary: $20 to $28 per hour based on qualifications.
