POSITION SUMMARYAssists in the planning, purchasing, training, and scheduling of work activities across the organization for custodial staff.
Assigns and performs custodial duties necessary for the upkeep of City buildings.
Provides training and direction to custodial staff.
This is working lead position.

Essential Duties & ResponsibilitiesFacilities Lead Custodian-lead duties:
Reviews daily work activities and contributes to formal performance reviews.
Maintains work records and trains custodians on floor and carpet cleaning equipment.
Assists with work schedules for the custodial crew in the absence of the Facilities Custodial Supervisor.
Assists with dissemination of policies, directives, and procedures to custodial staff.
Coordinates and assists with City facility set-up for meetings, which includes brewing coffee and furnishing condiments, setting up tables and chairs, and providing audio/visual equipment as specified by room set-up request.
Ensures building security by checking to see all doors are locked and the building is clear each night through visual inspection.
Also, notifies supervisor of any lights or locks that need to be replaced or repaired.
Conducts building inspections for cleanliness, safety hazards, and maintenance.
Responsible for the maintenance and upkeep of custodial equipment such as vacuums, floor buffers, and carpet extractors.
Responsible for reporting to immediate supervisor of any excessive repairs need to any equipment out of service.
Coordinates repair of hazardous and unsafe conditions of City buildings with supervisor.
Facilities Lead Custodian-working duties:
Performs general custodial duties and cleaning necessary for the upkeep of City buildings, including stripping and waxing floors, carpet care, sweeping, mopping, vacuuming, and polishing furniture.
Disinfects and sanitizes hard surfaces, frequently touched surfaces (i.
e.
handrails, light switches, door knobs/handles etc.
).
Cleans and sanitizes locker rooms including showers, restroom areas, sinks, counter surfaces, urinals, and toilets.
Replaces soap and paper products, as needed.
Operates floor buffer, scrubber, vacuums, carpet, and upholstery cleaning equipment.
Empties trash containers and picks up debris.
Dusts vent grills throughout facilities.
Washes glass surfaces that may include windows, doors, and desktops.
Performs tile maintenance including stripping, sealing, waxing, buffing.
Other Duties & Responsibilities Responds to customer requests, such as moving furniture, or replacing light bulbs.
Shovels snow and applies ice-melt to City walkways and corridors.
Documented inventory tracking.
Assist supervisor with updating Safety Data Sheet (SDS) folders.
Other duties or tasks as assigned.
PREPARATION AND TRAININGEducation:
High School education or GEDWork
Experience:
Minimum 3 years in building custodial maintenance.
Minimum 1 year in a lead capacity; previous supervisory experience preferred.
Certifications and/or Licensures:
NoneRequired Driver's License:
Valid Colorado driver's license and safe driving record.
An equivalent combination of education, training and relevant job experience may be substituted.

Candidate possesses the ability to read, speak and write in English.
Spanish speaking skills a plus.
Mechanical - Basic skills needed to operate floor buffing machine and performing minor equipment and building repairs.
Project Management - Strong skills needed to schedule custodial operations and oversee custodial personnel.
Must have good planning, inventory control, record keeping and organizational skills.
WORKING CONDITIONS AND PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTSWork is performed inside City facilities and occasionally on the surrounding grounds (outside).
Works near moving mechanical parts; exposed to fumes, airborne particles, and various chemicals, some of which may be toxic.
The employee is exposed to various conditions including wet, hot, and cold conditions.
HOURLY RATE$16.
