Estimated up to 10% Major Duties This position will lead the structural engineering group, supervise and mentor junior engineers, and stamp in-house structural construction drawings.
Will be responsible for providing engineering calculations, evaluations, specifications, and design support for production within a multi-discipline (Arch, MEP, Civil, LA) design office.
Research local and federal design standards as well as prepare engineering documents.
Evaluate existing structures for renovations, new occupancies, and new mechanical/electrical equipment loads.
Design new structures based on ASCE 7, IBC and applicable building codes and engineering standards, including Veterans Affairs design guidelines, and blast resistant design requirements Design and develop construction documents within healthcare and commercial environments.
Production of construction documents (drawings and specifications) implementing applicable calculations including calculations, analysis, coordination with architecture and other engineering disciplines.
Responsible for Quality Control of Construction Documents in compliance with Valhalla QA/QC procedures and process.
Experience in Construction Phase services including performing construction observations and responding to Submittals and RFI's.
Other design/engineering tasks as assigned.

Citizenship required.
Expert knowledge of various building systems, to include antiquated systems, in reinforced concrete, masonry, wood, and structural steel.
Knowledge of new and historical construction techniques and standards.
Expert understanding of how structure and building envelope affect each other.
Advanced knowledge of engineering standards to include:
IBC, IEBC, UFC, ACI, AISC, AISI, TMS, SJI, NDS, ASTM, ASCE, etc.
Advanced knowledge of ASCE 41 and ASCE 7 seismic requirements to include structural and non-structural seismic design and other various design software packages (RISA, RAMS).
Blast design and structural dynamics experience preferred.
Analysis and retrofit design experience of deteriorated reinforced concrete construction preferred.
Veterans Affairs, Dept.
of Defense, and/or other Federal gov't experience preferred.
Be self-motivated, able to perform and solve problems independently and take the initiative to make sound decisions with minimal oversight.
Possess excellent written and oral communication skills.
Proficiency in computer design and modeling software programs including Revit, AutoCAD, MathCAD, spSlab, RISA, ETABS, PROFIS, Tekla Tedds, Bluebeam, MS Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.
), Adobe Acrobat, and other various design software.
CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS Professional Engineer (P.
E.
) required.
Structural Engineer (S.
E.
) preferred.
