Senior Electrical Engineer - DistributionCLP Engineering (CLPE) is seeking a motivated and talented Senior Electrical Engineer with a PE license to join the team at our corporate location in Greenwood Village, CO.

CLPE is a full-service electric utility solutions engineering firm with more than twenty years' experience in electrical utility system ownership, upgrades, maintenance and operations through our sister company, City Light & Power.
CLPE offers a wide range of engineering services to investor-owned, municipal, cooperative, government, industrial, and commercial customers.
Duties &
Responsibilities:
o Design sub-transmission systems, substations, switching stations, and complex commercial/industrial power distribution systems.
o Develop concept design alternatives, engineering calculations, analysis, and engineering estimates for small-scale system improvement projects for substations and distribution systems.
o Develop/review complex electrical system models and validate various system study findings/recommendations.
o Develop electrical specifications for major electrical apparatus.
o Create system model for large-scale power system in ETAP (or similar software) and perform various power system analysis/studies.
o Develop bill of material and technical specifications for various electrical projects.
Schedule and attend field walk-downs with customer, subcontractor, and construction personnel to understand and determine project requirements.
o Perform field take-offs/evaluations for estimate preparation.
o Possess and maintain broad and in-depth knowledge of principles, practices, procedures, and standards related to utility power distribution systems.
o Update and maintain GIS database for large-scale electrical distribution systems.
o Perform site surveys for major upgrade projects, develop concept design, and present the design to CLPE Management and the customer.
o Prepare cost estimates for large-scale electric distribution and substation projects.
o Keep up to date with utility industry standards and codes.
Enforce and maintain all applicable standards and codes for our O&M, replacement/renewable and new installations.
o Analyze electrical fault events, power quality issues, system loading scenarios and assist crew to implement corrective actions.
o Maintain in-depth knowledge of power system protection and relaying schemes for electrical distribution system.
o Participate in estimate review process with internal and external stakeholders.
o Assist construction personnel throughout the project life cycle in tracking and understanding the basis of cost estimate.
o Mentor junior engineers and provide guidance and support to help them grow in their professional careers.

Project Management Duties:
o Preparation of project construction scheduleso Submission of request for information to clients.
o Act as primary point of contact for projects and facilitating design/review process.
o Coordinate meetings, scheduling updates, submitting deliverables, and addressing outstanding open items as requested by clients.
Travel:
o Up to 20% to client sitesSkills and
Qualifications:
o BS degree, Electrical Engineering, from accredited university with emphasis in power systems required.
o PE License required.
o Eight plus (8+) years of work experience in electrical utility industry.
o Expert knowledge with medium voltage electrical substations and distribution system required.
o Expert with power system analysis, distribution system modeling, and protective device coordination required.
o Experienced in blueprints, specifications, proposals, and other documentation to prepare time/cost/labor estimates for projects and services required.
o Ability to prepare and maintain construction project schedules in Microsoft Project.
o Experience with ETAP or similar software.
o Must be a Team Player with excellent oral and written communication skills.

Benefits & Compensation:
o We offer an excellent benefits package that includes medical insurance, dental insurance, life insurance, 401k with company contribution, paid time off and paid holidays.
o Salary range:
$130,000-$165,000 based on experience plus eligible to participate in Short Term Incentive Plan.
o We reserve the right to pay more or less than the posted salary range based on factors unrelated to sex.
