Marketing Communications Specialist

Serves as a key member of the bank's Corporate Communications Division, which manages the bank's corporate communications and corporate marketing programs, including customer and shareholder communications, publications, media relations, employee communications, events, advertising, and marketing communications. Designs and delivers sales enablement tools for business unit and line personnel. Supports the bank and business line relationships by serving as a bank liaison with business line trade association executives and staff. Oversees the bank's industry and corporate advertising as well as special promotions. Performs project management-related activities for the Corporate Communications department.
The essential functions include, but are not limited to:
Serves as the primary point of contact for business units, line managers and other personnel for the conception, design, execution and delivery of marketing communications materials, including brochures, fact sheets, sales slicks, case studies, white papers and other sales enablement tools.
Works with other professionals in the department in addition to outside vendors, including writers and graphic designers, to deliver all marketing materials to internal customers within agreed-on business specifications and timelines.
Serves as a staff liaison for the bank's relationship with business line trade associations, including rural electric, water and communications industries, leveraging CoBank as a trusted partner and thought leader. Engages at all levels within the association, e.g., participating on planning committees and exploring sponsorship and speaking opportunities for CoBank.
Serves as the primary marketing communications contact for the bank's leasing subsidiary for the design, execution and delivery of marketing communications materials and website content for both direct leasing customers and association leasing partners. Provides assistance with leasing-related internal communications and media relations. Oversees the practical application and utilization of the leasing group's branding strategy.
Under the direction of the Vice President, Corporate Communications, oversees the bank's industry and corporate advertising program. Works closely with business unit managers and other executives to identify appropriate print, online and broadcast media properties to achieve maximum positive exposure for the bank with customers and other key stakeholders. Designs and executes media-buy strategy to achieve agreed-on business objectives. In partnership with the creative services team, develops and delivers advertising graphics, tracks results and recommends adjustments as appropriate.
Performs project management-related activities for the Corporate Communications department.
Participates in special projects, and performs other duties as assigned.
Basic Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Communications, Public Relations, Marketing, Journalism, or other relevant discipline.
Five (5) or more years of experience in marketing communications in a corporate environment; or an appropriate combination of education and experience.
Preferred Qualifications
Agency experience and/or a combination of B2B and B2C experience preferred.
Demonstrated ability to creatively solve business needs through appropriate marketing communications programs.
Ability to work under deadline pressure and adjust quickly to changing priorities with composure.
Ability to think strategically and proactively offer solutions to address business needs and resolve issues.
Strong interpersonal and consultative skills, with the ability to work collaboratively and build and maintain effective relationships with all levels of executives, internal team members and customers.
Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively as part of a team.
Solid project management skills, including the ability to manage workload and prioritize and communicate effectively for multiple projects.
Excellent verbal and written communications and presentation skills.
Knowledge of Microsoft Office applications (Outlook, Word, PowerPoint, Excel and SharePoint).
Availability for occasional work outside normal business hours.
Availability for domestic travel of up to 30 percent.
